“The journey of a thousand miles begins beneath one’s feet.”
I was going to start with the quote “Every journey begins with one step” so I went to look it up to see who said it. It turns out that the common quote that I was looking for was “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Either way the quote is attributed to Lao-tzu. According to The Quotations Page the more correct translation from the original Chinese is “… beneath one’s feet”.
I really like the subtle difference in meaning to remind me that no matter where I want to end up the journey or as my wife and I call it the adventure starts where we currently stand. I can do a lot for preparation now so when the time for step out is right we will be ready.
